Since The 1930's
In the mid 1930s, the Botek family began selling Christmas trees at our small family-run grocery store. This sparked an interest in the idea of growing our own trees. In 1950, a couple of acres of Scotch pine were planted near Lehighton, PA. The youngest child in the Botek family, Francis, enjoyed working with the trees from year to year. In 1964, Francis and his wife Margaret bought about 25 acres of land in the beautiful Mahoning Valley.
Over the next several years, Francis converted the one time dairy farm into what we now call the “home farm” of Crystal Spring Tree Farm. During this time, Francis and Margaret operated both the tree farm as well as the grocery store along with a family of their own. Their three children, Francine, Alison, and Chris were raised between the grocery store and the tree farm and were always encouraged to help at each.
Come check out Crystal Spring’s Award Winning trees at our local Tree Farms! We have received multiple awards for our trees and have supplied trees to the White House and have had a featured tree in Rockefeller Center in New York City. Growing Christmas trees have been a long-time tradition for the Botek family for nearly 75 years. Crystal Spring Tree Farm wants to bring other joy and beautiful trees that will delight your family’s holiday every year. It is an honor for us to supply our state capitol tree to Harrisburg, PA. We have people come to get trees from local Jim Thorpe, Langford, Danielsville, and the surrounding Lehighton area.
